Like every other blogging Tom, Dick and Harry, we at Drunken Speculation have lodged our five votes each in the Local Taphouse’s Hottest 100 Australian Craft Beers. With a bit more drinking experience under our belts compared to last year, narrowing down the approximately 550 beers we’ve had to a shortlist of five Australian beers each was always going to be a tough ask. Nonetheless, we’ve managed to do it. ammo scoured her Untappd checkins and managed to screen it […]
Following in the stupefyingly similar footsteps of beer bar band, I also voted in Triple J’s 20 Years Hottest 100, choosing my favourite twenty songs of the last twenty years. By the time this gets published, we should be about halfway through the countdown and I’m likely to have forgotten it was on and missed most of the coverage. [Turns out I didn’t and the list so far has been satisfactory. A few too many entries from recent years but the […]

I found it a massive struggle, mostly because the bands I’ve liked for a long time (Muse, The Killers) put out fairly mediocre records this year (The 2nd Law and Battle Born respectively). The Killers […]
The Hottest 100 for another Australia Day is done and dusted. That would be the craft beer one run by the Local Taphouse, not the “world’s largest” music poll run by Triple J (which may yet be the subject of another DS). First cab off the rank is not congratulations to the winners. I’m too bitter about my complete inability to get any of the four beers I picked, admittedly not solely on their merits, into the top century.
Disclaimer: Strictly speaking, as I wrote this while sober, this isn’t drunken speculation. I am, however, very tired and hungry, which is a kind of drunk. One of my very mild superpowers, aside from having a phenomenal tear film, is that regardless of how off course a night goes, I can usually remember, to within a standard drink or two, how many drinks I had the night before. However, when it comes to choose five of the best beers of […]
